About Audacity
Audacity is a multi-track audio editor for the jobs that come up constantly: record from a microphone or line input, trim and rearrange, remove noise and hum, normalise levels, and export. It edits destructively on a waveform, which is exactly the right model for cleaning up a recording rather than producing music.
The effect set covers noise reduction, click removal, compression, equalisation, pitch and tempo change independent of each other, and spectral editing for surgical fixes. It supports 32-bit float processing, LADSPA/LV2/VST plugins, and Nyquist scripting for batch work through macros.
Free software under the GPL. Third parties may host and redistribute it.
