DaVinci Resolve

Resolve is four applications in one window: an editor (Cut and Edit pages), a node-based colour grading system (Color), a compositor (Fusion) and a full digital audio workstation (Fairlight). It started as a colour grading system used in feature film finishing, and the Color page still shows it — primaries, curves, qualifiers, power windows and tracking, all wired together as nodes.

Everything runs on a 32-bit float, wide-gamut pipeline with proper colour management, which is why it is the usual choice for HDR delivery.

Licence status: the free version is genuinely free and remarkably complete — it is not a time-limited trial. The paid DaVinci Resolve Studio adds features such as higher-resolution output, extra noise reduction, some Fusion effects and multi-user collaboration, and is sold as a one-off licence rather than a subscription.
