About GIMP

GIMP is a full raster image editor: layers and layer groups, masks, paths, channel operations, a wide selection of selection tools, and a paint engine with pressure-sensitive brush dynamics for tablets. Colour work includes curves, levels, colour balance and a high bit-depth pipeline through GEGL.

It reads and writes the formats you would expect plus PSD, and it is scriptable in Script-Fu (Scheme) and Python, which makes batch processing straightforward. A large third-party plug-in ecosystem covers the gaps.

Free software under the GPL, developed in the open for three decades. No licence key, no subscription, and third parties are free to host and redistribute it.
